What are floods?

Floods are the most common and widespread of all natural disasters, except fire. Dam failures are potentially the worst flood events. A dam failure is usually the result of neglect, poor design, or structural damage caused by a major event such as an earthquake. When a dam fails, a gigantic quantity of water is suddenly let loose downstream, destroying anything in its path. Flood waters can be extremely dangerous. The force of six inches of swiftly moving water can knock people off their feet. The best protection during a flood is to leave the area and go to shelter on higher ground.



You'll need to plan for two situations:

1).Remaining in your home after a disaster or evacuating to a safer location.


2).Have a three-day supply of food and water on hand plan for one gallon of water per person per day and food that won't spoil.



If you wish to stay in house will flood epidemic ,follow the following rules to be safe at your place

⦿ Move valuables and furniture to higher levels.

⦿ Move hazardous materials (such as paint, oil, pesticides, and cleaning supplies) to higher locations.



⦿ Disconnect electrical appliances. Do not touch them if you are wet or standing in water.

⦿ Bring outside possessions indoors or tie them down securely.

⦿ Seal vents to basements to prevent flooding.
